Description
Maine Air National Guard Building 510

Project Scope

The project required the removal two of the four existing 650 kw generators and their associated breeching and fuel oil supply systems. The building originally had a large computer infrastructure and required minimal heat that was provided by electric coils. The existing air handling unit was retrofitted with a hot water supply coil and the existing electric heat was decommissioned.

The new heating system consists of two H.B. Smith cast iron sectional boilers, variable frequency drive base mounted pumps, and over 300 feet of finned tube radiation. The fuel oil system consists of a new 20,000 gallon above ground shelter tank that serve the two new boilers along with two existing generators via a day tank system. A Honeywell control system was installed and tied into the existing campus wide automatic temperature controls system.
