Description
Upper Kennebec Valley High School Boiler Replacement

Project Scope

The project required the removal of the existing boiler plant. The existing boiler plant consisted of one Kewanee fire tube boiler, a small incinerator, an oil fired water heater, a 1500 gallon domestic water storage tank, an active #2 fuel oil system, along with miscellaneous electrical and automatic temperature control systems.

The new boiler plant consists of two Buderus cast iron sectional boilers serving the heating requirements of the school. These boilers also serve the domestic water needs that are satisfied by three 120 gallon Super Stor water heaters. Two serve the domestic water needs of the school while one is dedicated to food services. The fuel oil system was overhauled and the existing underground tank was utilized however all the piping and accessories were replaced. The existing automatic temperature controls were modified to a stand alone Tekmar system to control the boilers and the supply water temperature based on the outside air conditions. The existing electrical entrance was revamped, new distribution was installed and connections were provided to power the boiler room.
