The project required the removal of the existing boiler plant. The existing boiler plant consisted of two 165 boiler hp Kewanee fire tube boilers, a small cast iron sectional boiler serving the domestic water system, a 1500 gallon domestic water storage tank, an abandoned #6 fuel oil system, an active #2 fuel oil system, along with miscellaneous electrical and automatic temperature control systems.
The new boiler plant consists of two Clever Brooks Water Tube Boilers serving the heating requirements of the school. During the heating season these boilers also serve the domestic water needs that are satisfied by a 980 gallon Cemline tank. During the summer months the domestic hot water is provided by a Weil Mclain cast iron sectional boiler. The fuel oil system was overhauled and the existing tanks were utilized however all the piping and accessories were replaced. The existing automatic temperature controls were modified by Honeywell to control the boilers and the supply water temperature based on the outside air conditions. The existing electrical entrance was removed, two new distribution panels were installed and an emergency generator switch and connection were provided to power the boiler room during an outage.
