Project Scope
Construction of 31,000 square foot facility to give cardiologists and their support staff the space needed to consolidate services that had previously been in three different locations. Mechanical System consisted of a full scale boiler plant, with hot water baseboard, and reheats. The air side system consisted of multiple air handling units, a full variable air volume system and a fully air conditioned facility.

Project Scope
Complete Mechanical HVAC and medical gas upgrade to modernize of eight functioning operating rooms. These operating rooms are located in the third floor operating room suite in the Kagan building at EMMC. The project scope included installing a new medical gas vacuum system as well as updating the medical gas outlets in the walls and ceiling. In order to ensure that clean sterile air was being delivered to the operating rooms, High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtered laminar flow air distribution systems were installed in each of the operating rooms.

Special Project Considerations
This project was complicated because the upgrading of eight operating rooms, two at a time, was accomplished while the surrounding operating suites remained fully functional. Our crew members had to use the utmost caution to not disrupt the surrounding environment during construction. The workers had to make sure that the construction was done in a quiet and clean manner.

Project Scope
The work on this project consisted of the complete fit out of an existing empty third floor space at the EMHS Brewer location. ABM was responsible for the installation of all mechanical and plumbing systems. The heating system was composed of a VAV air distribution system with radiant panels for supplemental heating. All work had to be coordinated properly to ensure that the operation of any of the existing systems would not be affected.

Special Project Considerations
All new systems were being tied into the existing heating, plumbing, and ventilation systems. This required ABM to take special precaution to ensure that all existing facility functions would not be impacted by construction activities. These systems would include the hot water heating mains, domestic water supply lines, and existing air handler unit supply and return ductwork.

Project Scope
Work on this project consists of the construction of a new addition as well as renovation work to the existing facility. ABM Mechanical is responsible for the complete installation of a new heating and cooling plant for the entire hospital as well as complete installations for all plumbing fixtures and equipment for new in-patient rooms.
Work includes the installation of three (3) 80 HP Cleaver Brooks oil fired boilers; a 130 ton chiller unit; a 14,500 CFM air handling unit with an energy recovery unit; domestic water booster pump; medical gas systems; 10,000 gallon underground fuel storage tank with fuel oil transfer pump system.

Special Project Considerations
All work done in regards to the renovations within the hospital will need to be performed under strict care to ensure that infection control measures are maintained. The building addition’s systems will need to be tied in to the existing facility in a way as to ensure that operation of the existing facility is not impacted.

Project Scope
Renovation of existing warehouse space into 60,000 square foot of office and training area. ABM was responsible for design and installation of all plumbing and Mechanical work. HVAC system was fully climate controlled utilizing a 4 pipe fan coil system, new boilers, chillers and Liebert data room systems that were installed in the operations area.

Special Project Considerations
This project had to be built in 16 weeks once design and procurement was completed.

Project Scope
This projected consisted of a complete Medical Office Building (MOB) renovation. ABM Mechanical was responsible for the plumbing and HVAC improvements including but not limited to plumbing and fixtures for new Exam and Bath Rooms, new hot water heater and mixing valves, new heating and cooling Volume Air Damper System, Siemens Controls, associated ductwork and tie-in to existing roof top unit (RTU).

Project Scope
ABM Mechanical was the General Contractor for this project which consisted of the complete installation of an Aegis Energy Services Inc. Combined Heat and Power Plant (Cogen), Cogen Dump Radiator, Cogen Pump Module, Cogen Pre-heat and Load Modules, pumps, controls, ductwork, electrical distribution and controls wiring, associated piping and exhaust systems. ABM performed all the plumbing for the project including but not limited to the natural gas, dump radiator, load and pump modules and other associated piping systems.

Project Scope
Phase 1 for the new Penobscot Pavilion Tower consisted of the main infrastructure with a complete fit-out of the Sterilization Processing Department (SPD), the Main Lobby, Cafeteria, Medical/Surgical Inpatient Rooms and the Mechanical Spaces.

The primary heat is provided through a total of eight new custom Air Handling Units (AHUs) with the air tempered through individual Single Duct Terminal Variable Air Volume (VAV) Units. The secondary heat is delivered through radiant ceiling panels and finned tube radiation.

The cooling is produced through the new centrifugal water chillers and cooling towers. The condenser water loop is 20” pipe and spans nearly ¼ mile underground between the cooling towers and chillers. There is a 300 ton dedicated chiller and closed circuit fluid cooling towers that tie into an existing system and serve as the primary cooling for the OR suites and surgical center.

Special Project Considerations
This project was unique because the new Penobscot Pavilion Patient Tower was added to the Eastern Maine Medical Center campus while the rest of the hospital and all of its services remained operational.

Project Scope
The “Patient Floor Project” included renovations of two (2) SCU Patient Rooms, Nurse’s Stations, Oncology Suite, six (6) new Patient Toilet Rooms. Plumbing work included new plumbing fixtures and associated plumbing piping. Installation of new Medical Gas Piping Systems (vacuum, medical air, oxygen) including alarm panels, sensors, zone valves, and outlet devices. A new Hydronic Heating Loop with hot water reheat coils was provided for the new Oncology Suite.

The "Infrastructure Project” included installation of a Renewaire Rooftop Energy Recovery Unit with steam heating coil, chilled water cooling coil, valves and controls. Replacement of two modular indoor air handling units and two indoor make-up air units with steam heating coils, chilled water cooling coils, valves and controls. Duct and Unit Mounted Steam Humidification Systems were provided on each of the new Modular Air Handling Systems. Work also included removal and replacement of two oil fired Cleaver Brooks High Pressure Steam Boilers with two new dual-fuel fired (oil & future NG) Cleaver Brooks 200 HP Low Pressure Steam Boilers, one new dual-fuel fired Fulton 10 HP High Pressure Steam Boiler, new Feed Water System and Deaerator Tank, new Fuel Oil Pump Set and Distribution System, new Steam Pressure Reducing Station, new Steam Heating Coil with electric heat trace for the cooling tower sump, Controls System, new metal chimney stack and venting system. Work included a Temporary Steam Boiler Heating Plant to maintain the fully operational facility.

Project Scope
This project consists of a new addition for a new Emergency Department and renovations to the existing buildings newly vacant areas. ABM Mechanical is responsible for above and underground domestic, sewer, heat and drain piping systems. ABM installed a sewer ejector pump, force main piping and heat lines from the existing Boiler Room to the new building addition. Heat and cooling is provided by a Trane Roof Top Unit (RTU), variable air volume (VAV) boxes with reheat coils, Trane Condensing Unit, Mitsubshi Mini-split Cooling Unit and radiant heat panels. ABM installed controls, pumps and radiant piping system for sidewalk heating. We also installed a Digital Data Control (DDC) System for the building.
